The District recently hosted a free 3rd grade STEAM program at the Brian Moore Athletic Center which was attended by many students. Thank you to all our STEAM, and 5th Grade and HS Student Volunteers, who served as coaches for our 3rd-grade students! The Board of Education prides itself on supporting the implementation an engaging STEAM curriculum for all students. Thank you Raymond Paris, Vice President, and Jennifer Maggio, Board Trustees of the Board of Education for joining us and supporting our children!
Over the past two months, our schools have been holding their winter concerts. During the past two weeks, the final concerts were held highlighting the talents of our elementary school students. All of our performers have worked so hard to learn their music and have made great strides since the beginning of the school year. Click here to watch a short video of our John H. West Senior Chorus practicing before their concert on January 19th.
Scholar-Athlete Joe Iadevaio, along with our fall sports athletes, star in this informative video "Come and rediscover one of the best public schools on Long Island. Get out and support our always competitive top athletic programs and our arts and music programs which are supported by a caring team of educators, award-winning administrators, and our Board of Education.
Major congratulations are in order to Plainedge High School 11th grader, Shane Mosia, who participated in the Symphony Orchestra on string bass at the All-State music festival in Rochester, NY. We are so proud of your dedication to your art and your disciplined attitude as a music-student, which brought you to the position of representing Plainedge Public Schools in such a positive way for the rest of the world to see!
It’s no coincidence that “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” spells out “LEAD.”
On behalf of the Board of Education and Plainedge Public Schools, we offer so much gratitude to each and every single officer who spent their afternoon with us at our three elementary schools. We learned how to LEAD with integrity, gained perspective about our community, offered tokens of our appreciation, created real change… and had SO MUCH FUN getting to know you!
Some of our favorite moments that we shared were:
Thank you News12 for highlighting not one, but TWO Plainedge Public Schools teachers in your recent “2021 Long Island Honor Roll” list. We already know how lucky we are to have Ms. Montaperto and Mrs. Avgeris, so thank you for helping us to show everyone else what great talents we have on our team here at Plainedge.
Check out what News 12 Long Island had to say:
“Ms. Montaperto is pure kindness. She teaches with care, love and positivity. She makes learning fun and makes each child feel special!”
Mrs. Maura Czachor is one of our amazing teachers currently educating students in Plainedge Middle School. She began her career 21 years ago in Plainedge, teaching 3rd grade in Schwarting Elementary School. After spending a few years with our younger students, Mrs. Czachor graduated to Middle School, where she taught 6th-grade students to love math for over a decade. This year, Mrs. Czachor has an expanded role in the Middle School teaching young minds about both English and math.
